Gateway nx100x

This comes as a very cheap notebook for its lightweight. It is highly portable, with a sleek design, having a screen size of 12.1-inch display, and a 5-in-1 media card reader.

But unfortunately, it doesn't have an inbuilt optical drive, and some multimedia features. It has an ordinary battery life, and some features lack good security level.

For business and home users who are budget and portability conscious, the Gateway NX100X is a perfect choice.

The NX100X has a screen display of 12.1 inch, with a native resolution of 1,280x800.


There is also a level of simplicity in this laptop as regards ports and connections. You will get a

VGA, 4-pin FireWire, and two USB 2.0 ports, with also a microphone and headphone jacks. It also has a Type II PC Card reader, but doesn't support ExpressCards. It has a 6-in-1 media card slot which permits mini secure digital, secure digital, memory stick, multi-media card, xD formats, and memory stick pro.


Its Network connections are Gigabit Ethernet, modem, and 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is also featured as an addition. Although the NX100X doesn't have an inbuilt optical drive, our review unit's price is inclusive of an external DVD burner which is connected through a USB. The NX100X also doesn't security features like fingerprint scanner, and a Trusted Platform Module. The NX100X's software package includes the Microsoft 8 mini suite, Windows XP Professional, and apps for seeing and burning discs.


It has a dimension of 11.4 inches width, 8.9 inches depth, with a weight of 3.2 pounds which makes it remarkably light.


Its hardware features includes a 1.2GHz Intel Core Solo processor, 533MHz RAM of 512MB, hard disk drive of 80GB which spins at 5,400rpm, with an inbuilt Intel graphics that uses up to 128MB system memory.
